MY OUTLOOK ON THE OUR HARRY POTTER, HALLOWEEN HOUSE TOUR, THE COMMUNITY WE'VE CHERISHED, AND THE FRIENDS WE HAVE MADE, AND HOW WE CAN EMBRACE THE GOOD PARTS,
Some of you know me as Jackie, Mz. Hecht, or at least once a year, Minerva McGonagall, Professor of transfiguration and Deputy Headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is with the air of UNITY and coming together that I began to run D.A. meetings,...gathering friends to build sets, and props. These friends also sometimes play the parts of your favorite characters. We have entertained kids and adults nearly every Halloween for the better part of 20 years. Whether or not our friends knew the story of Harry Potter, they were welcome to join if they enjoyed building/ crafting/ art/ or pizza. (I do try to feed everyone). You see, people just want to feel included. D.A. Stands for Dumbledore's Army. (OR one could say in our case, Decorative Arts.) In Harry Potter, the D.A. consisted of the right and fair-minded students of Hogwarts who stood up against and unjust takeover in their leadership. They used the room of requirement to hone their wizarding skills so that they could save Hogwarts against an evil that was perched to destroy all they held dear. AND THEY DID....THEY WERE CHAMPIONS!!! Over the many years of "Pottering" I have derived a lot of satisfaction in seeing the efforts of all of my artsy and talented friends and family who transform my home into Hogwarts for Halloween for the enjoyment of all. HALLOWEEN, as all things, for me is ALWAYS WITH THE THOUGHT OF INCLUSION. You know I go back and forth every year. To Potter or not to Potter. There is no challenge to great that we cannot overcome. Coffee Table Book Item 33 Love is in the air. Literally. – Jasmine L. My Dad has Severe Alzheimer's and is in a Nursing Home He no longer eats except by feeding tube. His only "treats" other than hugs and kisses, are those that are visual. I rolled my dad downstairs, took the elevator back up. I hung the banner from the 2nd floor of the Rotunda, went back downstairs and rolled him around. When taking the picture, two nurses walked by. One Nurse Immediately Exclaimed, "Love is in the Air" I said, "Exactly!!!"
